Growing Plants In Pots

Country Boy Loved Fresh Produce!

My dad was a country boy who had to raise his family in the city. That did not stop him from gardening. He gardened everywhere he was allowed. When he became a homeowner in the late seventies gardening was on his mind. Seed catalogs took up space on momma’s kitchen table from about mid-January until his order was made in February. As soon as those seeds and sometimes small trees landed on the doorstep, dad was wrapping seeds in wet paper towels. also taking all of the empty egg cartons. As he waited for sprouts to rise, he would be in the yard mapping out where each precious seed would be planted.

When my father didn’t have my hand, he had my back.

Container Gardening

Gardening simply does not allow one to be mentally old, because too many hopes and dreams are yet to be realized.

Several years have passed, and because of the country boy’s enjoyment of gardening, his daughter still loves the freshness of her own garden produce. Mid-January has arrived. She is making plans for my container gardens. Seed orders and fertilizer is already on the to-do lists. Living in a cozy condominium so she must do container gardening. It is still as therapeutic and fun for her as when he played in the dirt out in the yard.
