Country Boy Taught Us How To Garden Even In The Big City
Country Boy Loved Fresh Produce!
My dad was a country boy who had to raise his family in the city. That did not stop him from gardening. He gardened everywhere he was allowed. When he became a homeowner in the late seventies gardening was on his mind. Seed catalogs took up space on momma’s kitchen table from about mid-January until his order was made in February. As soon as those seeds and sometimes small trees landed on the doorstep, dad was wrapping seeds in wet paper towels. also taking all of the empty egg cartons. As he waited for sprouts to rise, he would be in the yard mapping out where each precious seed would be planted.
When my father didn’t have my hand, he had my back.
Gardening simply does not allow one to be mentally old, because too many hopes and dreams are yet to be realized.Allan Armitage
Several years have passed, and because of the country
Her grandson is watching and learning every year. Although he only lives a half-hour up the road, during the summer months he likes to stay with Nana & Gramps!
The country boy instilled the love of plants and gardening in his children, they just tackle it in a different matter. I hope you join me this summer while we explore container gardening and tips.
